Frisco itinerary scene

Weekend itinerary

Friday at The Star, Saturday at Toyota Stadium, Sunday at PGA Frisco.

Sleep where the Cowboys practice, spend Saturday at the National Soccer Hall of Fame before an FC Dallas kickoff, and give Sunday morning to the short courses at PGA Frisco.

By Cal Mercer — a Second Star Guide itinerary

Frisco's stadium districts, golf campus, family attractions, and hotels are spread along the Dallas North Tollway rather than gathered around one downtown square.

Best length

2 nights

Arrive Friday for dinner near the hotel, reserve Saturday for the main venue, and keep Sunday to breakfast plus one stop before the tollway drive home.

Stay

Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star

Upscale hotel at The Star with direct access to the Cowboys campus, Ford Center, plazas, and restaurants—the clearest splurge when walking to the sports district matters.

Main activity

The Star, Toyota Stadium, or PGA Frisco

Pick one Frisco venue for Saturday and keep the hotel, dinner, and Sunday stop on a sensible route around it.

Weekend route

One main venue, two nearby districts

The hotel, Saturday venue, and dinner should sit on the same side of Frisco whenever possible; cross-town drives add up after games and long attraction days.

Friday

Check into Omni, walk The Star, then drive to Hutchins BBQ.

Leave the car at Omni long enough to see Ford Center, Tostitos Championship Plaza, and the Cowboys campus. Hutchins BBQ on Preston Road makes the first dinner a clear Texas stop rather than another mall meal.

4:00 PM

Saturday

Tour the National Soccer Hall of Fame, stay for FC Dallas, then eat downtown.

The Hall of Fame sits inside Toyota Stadium, so museum time and a match make one coherent Saturday. Without a home match, use The Star or Universal Kids Resort for the full day instead of crossing Frisco for several abbreviated stops.

10:00 AM

Main activity

Pair the National Soccer Hall of Fame with an FC Dallas match at Toyota Stadium.

Enter Toyota Stadium early enough for the Hall of Fame before kickoff. On a non-match weekend, substitute a Cowboys campus tour at The Star; families can use the entire Saturday for Universal Kids Resort.

4:30 PM

Afternoon

Return to the hotel district before dinner.

A pool hour, shower, or short walk near the room is more useful than crossing Frisco for another attraction after a stadium, golf, tournament, or theme-park day.

Sunday

Order coffee at Summer Moon, walk PGA Frisco, then take the tollway home.

Start on Main Street, then drive north to PGA Frisco for the public putting course, resort grounds, and golf-campus views before leaving by the Dallas North Tollway.
